These awards celebrate the remarkable achievements of outstanding members within Alberta's equine community. They acknowledge those who have made a positive impact and lasting legacy.

This is your chance to recognize a hard-working individual, facility, or horse that has gone above and beyond to make our equestrian community a truly special place.

The successful recipients for each award category will exemplify the characteristics defined within the respective award criteria listed Annual Awardshere. Members may be recognized for an outstanding achievement or for continual outstanding contributions within the community. The selection committee encourages those submitting nominations to include as much detail as possible to define the impact made.

Recipients will be presented with their awards at our annual Stride With Us gala banquet event on April 26, 2025 in Red Deer.

Important

  • Candidates may be of any age, involved in any discipline, and should hold a current AEF membership (individual, business, club) for most categories (exceptions made for Stable/Facility, Volunteer, Horse, and Equine Support Personnel).
  • Nominations are only accepted through the online nomination form.
  • All nominations must be truthful and accurate.
  • Nominations are open to the general public with no special requirements needed on behalf of the nominator.
  • AEF staff, members of the Board of Directors, and members of the Scholarship and Awards Committee are ineligible for nominations in any category, and are not able to nominate.
  • Individuals may be nominated for multiple categories, however, each category must be submitted one at a time.
  • Only one nomination is permitted per nominee, with only the first nomination received being considered.
  • Self-nominations, or nominations made by family members are not accepted, and owners of horses may not nominate their own horse for the "Outstanding Horse" category.
  • Horses eligible for the "Outstanding Horse" category must be alive at the time of nomination. No posthumous nominations will be accepted.
  • Nominators will ensure all nominations include as much detail as possible and clearly state the first and last name or full name of the person/entity being nominated. Confirm contact information is correct before submitting.
  • Award recipients may only be recognized once ever, to allow equal opportunity to widely recognize contributions made by individuals/entities throughout the province on an ongoing basis.
  • Nominations from within organizations or teams will not be considered in consecutive years (for example, if club A nominates person A in year 1 for an award and they are selected, a submission by club A for person B in year 2 will be deemed ineligible).
  • Recipients of the Above and Beyond Excellence award are ineligible across all other categories for a second award.
  • Nominations for facility owners must be submitted under their facility name in the Outstanding Stable/Facility category. They cannot be further nominated under the Outstanding Equine Support Personnel or Outstanding Instructor/Coach categories, even if acting within that capacity if that activity occurs at their facility.
