Coaching Requirements for Wild Rose Provincial Circuit Competitions Coming Soon

Starting July 15, 2024, competitions sanctioned under the Alberta Equestrian Federation's (AEF's) new Wild Rose Provincial Circuit will implement Coaching Requirements at Wild Rose Competitionscoaching certification requirements. These requirements are designed to enhance the safety and quality of equestrian sports at provincial level competitions.

Individuals who will be coaching students at Wild Rose Provincial Circuit competitions must hold accreditation from the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP), and maintain either AEF or another equestrian Provincial/Territorial Sport Organization membership. Non-NCCP coaches are able to coach during competition, provided they hold an active Equestrian Canada (EC) Licensed Coach Status, an active International Group of Equestrian Qualifications (IGEQ) Passport, or purchase a Temporary Coaching Badge.

Coaches who meet the requirements can complete the Wild Rose Coach Information Form to receive their personal Coach ID Badge. Badges, complete with lanyard, will be mailed out prior to the start of the competition. Coach ID Badges are valid for the season.

For those who do not meet the minimum coach certification requirements, Temporary Coaching Badges are available for purchase for a fee of $50 per competition. Once purchased, the badges will be available for pick up at the show office and will be valid for the duration of the competition.

Coach ID Badges and Temporary Coaching Badges must visible at all times while coaching on competition grounds. Sharing of badges will be prohibited.

These coaching requirements are the first in a suite of safe sport policies AEF will be implementing in 2025 to ensure the safety, well-being, and integrity of AEF members in sports, recreation, and physical activities.

Coaches participating in any Wild Rose sanctioned competitions other than Provincial Circuit will not require certification or license status.
