2024 Fall Cohort Registration Now Open

07.11.2024

AEF announces opening of 2024 Fall Cohort registration

The 2024 Fall Cohort program is now open and taking registrations. This program offers a unique opportunity for equestrian coaches to achieve recognition through National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) certification. This certification not only provides credibility in the sport, it aligns with new coaching requirements for Wild Rose Provincial Circuit competitions to be implemented Jan. 1, 2025.

The Fall Cohort covers essential coaching competencies for both English and Western disciplines through weekly, and some bi-weekly comprehensive online training sessions and evaluations. This program is crucial for those looking to advance their coaching careers, and it is one of the requirements to obtaining a Coach ID Badge for Wild Rose Provincial Circuit competitions.

Registration for the Fall Cohort runs from July 9 through to Aug. 4, with online sessions starting Sept. 9, 2024 and ending Dec. 16, 2024. Information and a detailed schedule can be found here.

Cohort Coaching Evaluation: the recommended choice

The Cohort Coaching Evaluation is the most supportive and structured option available to obtain NCCP certification. It is designed to foster development and ensure a high likelihood of success through:

  • Online weekly meetings with coach developers. Benefit from ongoing guidance from seasoned professionals who are committed to your improvement and ready to provide personalized feedback.
  • Clearly defined expectations. Each session is meticulously planned with explicit expectations, helping you to fully understand the benchmarks for success and prepare accordingly.
  • Built-in NCCP modules. Includes EC NCCP Long-Term Equestrian Development, NCCP Planning an Equestrian Practice, and NCCP Analyzing Beginner Performance.
  • Video-based evaluation. Showcase your skills through video, allowing for detailed assessments and the opportunity to demonstrate proficiency over time.
  • Pre-arranged logistics. Candidates must have access to a facility, three riders and horses, internet, laptop (mobile devices do not have all needed features), and camera. English candidates must have access to a horse that is accustomed to lunging with side reins.

This comprehensive structure not only prepares candidates, but also significantly enhances coaching skills in a real-world setting.

Eligibility requirements

To participate in the 2024 Fall Cohort, candidates must meet specific eligibility criteria. Spots are limited, and selection is based on meeting these requirements on a first-come, first-served basis.

For those candidates who do not yet have their Learn to Ride certificate, more information can be found here.
