EC NCCP Certification Maintenance

EC NCCP certification is issued on a five-year cycle. At the end of each cycle, certification is automatically renewed for the next five years as long as the required Professional Development (PD) points have been completed and an active Coach Status is maintained.

To remain recognized by Equestrian Canada (EC) and Alberta Equestrian Federation (AEF), instructors and coaches must:

  • Accumulate and submit the required Professional Development (PD) points, and
  • Maintain an active Coach Status

Professional Development (PD) Requirements

PD requirements are based on coaching context and must be met within each five-year cycle:

  • Instructor: 10 PD points
  • Competition Coach: 20 PD points
  • Competition Coach Specialist: 20 PD points
  • Competition Development (HP1): 30 PD points

Earning and Submitting PD Points

Instructors and coaches can review eligible PD activities in the PD Activity Guide.

To report PD activities completed outside of the NCCP Locker, coaches must complete the Coach Update Form and submit it to coaching@albertaequestrian.com.

Please note:

  • Coaches are responsible for entering their first aid certification and active coaching points directly into the NCCP system.
  • Guidance on how to enter these points is provided in this presentation.
