Proceeds from the Birdies & Bridles Benefit Golf Tournament help strengthen and expand:
- Grassroots equestrian programs and participation opportunities
- Horse welfare education and advocacy initiatives
- Resources and support for Alberta horse owners
- Access to education, training, safety resources, and mentorship
- Community programming that helps grow equestrian sport and recreation across Alberta
Why does it matter? Because Alberta’s equine community is far more than a pastime. A landmark economic impact study commissioned by AEF found that Alberta’s equine sector contributes approximately $1.4 billion to the province’s GDP, generates more than $1.7 billion in annual expenditures, supports over 20,300 full-time equivalent jobs, and includes more than 142,000 horses on over 25,000 properties across Alberta.
As the voice of Alberta’s horse community, AEF works year-round to ensure this important sector remains strong and sustainable. Through education, horse welfare initiatives, advocacy, safety programs, funding opportunities, resources, and community support, AEF helps horse owners, riders, coaches, facilities, and businesses thrive.
