Coaching Evaluation Options

Coaches pursuing National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) certification can choose between two evaluation options. Each option is designed to meet different learning styles, schedules, and levels of readiness.

Both pathways lead to the same nationally recognized NCCP certification — the difference is how the evaluation is completed.

Online Video Evaluation

The Online Video Evaluation option provides flexibility and clear structure, allowing candidates to demonstrate their coaching skills through recorded sessions.

This option is well-suited for coaches who prefer to prepare and submit their evaluation materials over time.

What’s Included

  • Video-based evaluation:
Submit recorded coaching sessions that demonstrate required NCCP competencies.
  • Clear evaluation criteria:
Detailed guidelines outlining expectations, benchmarks, and submission requirements.
  • Flexible scheduling:
Record and submit videos according to published timelines rather than fixed evaluation dates.

Logistics

Candidates must have access to:

  • A suitable coaching facility
  • Three riders and three horses
  • Reliable internet, a laptop or desktop computer, and a camera
(mobile devices are not fully compatible)
  • For English candidates, a horse accustomed to lunging with side reins

Fees

  • Instructor: $500 + GST
  • Competition Coach: $600 + GST

Fees are subject to change.

In-Person Coaching Evaluation

The In-Person Coaching Evaluation is a one-day, on-site assessment conducted at a designated facility.

This option is best suited for coaches who feel confident in their readiness and are comfortable being evaluated in a live coaching environment.

What’s Included

  • Single-day evaluation:
Direct observation and assessment of your coaching skills.
  • Focused assessment:
This option is evaluation-only and does not include preparatory coaching or feedback sessions.

Who This Option Is Best For

This option is recommended for candidates who are:

  • Working under the mentorship of an NCCP-certified Instructor or Coach (certified within the past 10 years), or
  • Supported by an active and qualified Coach Developer
