The Alberta Equestrian Federation is proud to announce a new partnership with Rhea Health to launch an innovative Active Recovery Pilot, providing AEF members with access to personalized, evidence-informed concussion recovery and mental health support through the Rhea platform.
The pilot represents a shared commitment to improving athlete brain health by equipping members with structured recovery tools grounded in the latest concussion and mental health research. Through the initiative, AEF members will receive complimentary access to Rhea’s digital recovery platform, which delivers personalized exercise programming alongside education, symptom tracking, mindfulness, and recovery guidance.
Historically, concussion management has emphasized prolonged rest. Today, a growing body of evidence demonstrates that appropriately prescribed physical activity can play a critical role in recovery. Rhea was developed to bridge the gap between research and practice, translating emerging clinical evidence into accessible, personalized recovery programs that support individuals throughout their concussion journey.
The Active Recovery Pilot will also contribute valuable insights into how digital health technologies can improve access to evidence-based concussion care within community sport settings.
“At the Alberta Equestrian Federation, we are committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for riders and equestrian participants across Alberta. This partnership with Rhea Health strengthens our commitment to Safe Sport by providing members with access to evidence-informed concussion recovery and mental wellness resources grounded in research and best practices. By increasing access to education, recovery support, and tools that promote participant well-being, we are helping build a stronger, healthier equestrian community where individuals can recover with confidence and continue enjoying the sport they love.” Sonia Dantu, Executive Director, Alberta Equestrian Federation
“The Alberta Equestrian Federation’s commitment to athlete welfare is evident in their willingness to bring evidence-based brain health resources directly to their community. At Rhea, our goal is to close the gap between concussion science and everyday recovery, and partnering with them helps us achieve that”. Dr. Michael Hutchison, Founder and CEO of Rhea HealthEquestrian sport presents unique demands for concussion prevention and management, making partnerships like this an important step toward expanding access to high-quality recovery resources across diverse sporting communities.
The Alberta Equestrian Federation joins a growing network of organizations partnering with Rhea Health to advance athlete brain health through research-informed digital care.
